Dr. Chow was born in Myanmar and immigrated to the United States at the age of 10. Growing up in a first-generation household, she developed a deep understanding of the limited awareness surrounding ocular health within her community. Dr. Chow earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. She completed her clinical training at a variety of institutions, such as Boston Medical Center, Veterans Affairs Hudson Valley Health Care, and Lynn Community Health Center, gaining valuable experience in diverse healthcare settings. During her clinical training, she concentrated on diagnosing and treating various ocular pathologies, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. She also honed her skills in fitting specialty contact lenses for conditions like keratoconus, providing low vision aids for visually impaired patients, and specializing in pediatric eye care to ensure healthy vision development from a young age. Throughout her time in school, Dr. Chow was an active member of Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (S-VOSH), there she had the incredible opportunity to participate in medical mission trip to the rural batey communities of the Dominican Republic. The initiative brought much-needed vision screenings, eyeglasses, medications, and education on eye health to residents who struggled to access quality eye care services.
After graduating, Dr. Chow practiced in a variety of clinical settings, where she developed a particular interest in myopia control and dry eye treatment. As screen time and environmental changes began to impact patients of all ages—especially in the post-pandemic era—she focused on developing effective, evidence-based techniques to manage these growing concerns.
Dr. Chow is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, the Gas Permeable Lens Institute, and the Scleral Lens Education Society.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Chow enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She also finds inspiration in the arts and frequently visits local exhibitions to explore creativity and culture.
